Bryan Johnson is a tech entrepreneur who famously sold his payment processing company, Braintree (having acquired Venmo in 2012), to eBay for a cool $800M in 2013. Johnson has also founded Kernel, a pioneering company developing noninvasive brain measurement technologies.
Last month, Johnson made the news headlines for completely different reasons. Having already been spending $2 million a year on anti-ageing regimen, Johnson participated in a tri-generational exchange of blood plasma between him, his father, and his son. More specifically, Johnson received plasma from his son, and his father received his plasma. While extremely controversial, this widely publicised tri-generational blood exchange reflected Johnson's willingness to experiment with extremely unconventional methods in his pursuit of improved health and longevity.
Unpacking Project Blueprint
Blueprint is Bryan Johnson’s novel and highly regimented process aimed at reversing the ageing of cells. It's a labour-intensive endeavour that requires running tests on every facet of Johnson's body, sticking to a meticulous exercise routine, and following a detailed diet plan with a long list of supplements.
To accomplish his goal of perpetual youth, Johnson has enlisted the support of a team of over 30 medical professionals and experts who aid in conducting tests, measuring results, and tweaking his routine based on scientific literature and emerging findings. Johnson boasts that Blueprint is not about making decisions based on gut instinct, but a data-driven science experiment that could benefit all.
“Practically, I do this by routinely taking hundreds of measurements of my body’s 70+ organs, enabling my heart, liver, lungs and kidneys to speak for themselves what they need to be in their ideal state. My mind is unauthorized to grocery shop, peruse the pantry, spontaneously order pizza, eat a dessert - to basically make any food related decision. This is my Autonomous Self.” - Bryan Johnson
